16 Colossi Defeated; 16 Shadows Collected

I just finished the PS2 game Shadow of the Colossus today. I recently got it from a friend and I didn't really have a PS2 for a long time so that's why I only played it now.

The ending was quite interesting. Definitely not what I expected though, but still nice. Although it did feel like something more could have been explained, but alas Shadow of the Colossus is not very big on details in the first place.

As for the entire game, I felt that the environment was absolutely beautiful. If there was an autopilot sequence like the opening videos, but with the whole map, I would just stare at it just to see every location. Too bad it lagged somewhat on my PS2, but it still looked quite beautiful.

The Colossi were also pretty interesting creatures themselves, although a few did lead to frustration at how annoying it is to find a way to climb or hurt them. But I guess that it the point of it all. After finding the strategy though, it became almost too easy for some. And the music for the Colossi did get a little repetitive at times. Still fun for the most part though.

All in all, it was an interesting experience. Any spiritual sequels or prequels (I'm looking a you Ico) would be on my list to play someday.

Idolm@ster Persona 3 OP

Idolm@ster and Persona 3. Two things that I quite enjoy. This one is a traced version of the Persona 3 OP, but with Idolmaster characters.

2012 London Olympics Begins!

Not exactly for the Olympics, but it's Makoto biking. | Source
It's that time again. Time for the Summer Olympic games! This year it's in London.

I watched the majority of the Olympic Opening Ceremony on TV today, and it was interesting. Though for the most part it did not quite have the punch I expected, it had some great moments. The most memorable and fun moment for me was when Rowan Atkinson (aka Mr. Bean) played the keyboard during "Chariots of Fire", as well as being in a little scene. The ending "Hey Jude" by Sir Paul McCartney was also quite nice.

Here's to hoping that these Olympics will be exciting and fun!

たいなば (Tainaba) Sings Rinne no Lagrange OP & ED

Recently found this hilarious little video of this guy singing the Rinne no Lagrange OP "Try Unite!" and "Hello!". His way of singing is of course with the intent of making people laugh. The "maru" that he does is quite manly indeed.

ζ*’ヮ’)ζ<Yayozora Melody 2009+2011

Found this little video while searching for some Mayako Nigo (Yayoi's VA) stuff, so I could compare her Yayoi voice to her other stuff. Her singing here is very much like a slightly subdued Yayoi. Also, the video is very nicely made, and it seems like it could be a slight homage to an older video 2 years before it.

Here's the older one for comparison, though I quite like the visuals done in the new video.

〇 Maru! Rinne no Lagrange 1st Cour Complete!

Finally got around to watching all of the 1st cour of Rinne no Lagrange today! That's 12 episodes of fun, robots, and three very interesting girls!

I really didn't know what to expect, so I ended up being quite surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I really like the three main characters, although Muginami did take a while to grow on me. Lan was cute and awkward fun, while Madoka is just an all around great.

I guess I could try to do some full review if I'm up to it, but really I'm just itching to watch the next cour soon.

Until next time. 〇 Success! Woof!

CINDERELLA MASTER 006 & 010 Extended Preview

Not just one, but two samples were broadcast during this week's "Idolm@ster Station"!

First up is Cinderella Master 010 Uzuki followed by 006 Ranko. "S(mile)ING!" and "華蕾夢ミル狂詩曲~魂ノ導~" respectively. Followed after is a short CM narrated by Uzuki and Ranko.

Uzuki's song has quite a nice feel to it. Calming and good. I was certainly... smiling when I first heard it. The voice is certainly very normal feeling as well, but that's part of the appeal.

Ranko's song is... interesting to say the least. I really liked the chorus part as per the shorter preview. I'm not sure what to think about the intro though. Though that gothic feel is nice. Also her "Drink in the Darkness!" line is a fun addition at the end of the CM.

Geki End; Magiranger Start; SAO Christmas

Today was such a mixed day of watching.

I just finished Jyuken Sentai Gekirangers, a slightly old Super Sentai series that I had put on hold for maybe a year or two now. At around episode 40 no less. But now I'm finished that great series and off to sample some more old Super Sentai. Although I can of doubt another series would beat Rio and Mele as the bad guys of the series.

And so I started Magirangers. I didn't really know what to expect, but it was a lot of fun for the first few episode. "Magi Magi Magirou!" and those other morphing/zord sounds are pretty hilariously done with that low voice. Also, the whole family being rangers is pretty different.

Also, in between watching those two, I got to see Sword Art Online episode 3. I did not know what to expect, but boy was it sad. No spoilers here though, except for the fact that I was surprised that they had a Christmas in that sort of game. Here's hoping that Kirito can get out of that lull and work with the other players.

CINDERELLA MASTER 006-010 Samples + Voice Actors

Song titles and song samples are here!

This post will contain the voice actors and song names for the next five Cinderella Master CDs. Plus, I got the CD cover images from the Idolm@ster blog so it looks nice.

Ranko Kanzaki is voiced by Maaya Uchida (内田真礼)
Her song is "Hana Tsubomi Yume Miru Kyoushikyoku ~Tamashii no Shirube~" (華蕾夢ミル狂詩曲~魂ノ導~)
Read as: "Tsubomi Yumemiru Rhapsodia ~Aruma no Michibiki~" (ツボミユメミルラプソディーア~アルマノミチビキ~)

Miku Maekawa is voiced by Natsumi Takamori (高森奈津美)
Her song is "Onedari Shall We~?" (おねだり Shall We~?)

Kirari Moroboshi is voiced by Rei Matsuzaki (松嵜麗)
Her song is "Marshmellow☆Kiss" (ましゅまろ☆キッス)

Mika Jougasaki is voiced by Haruka Yoshimura (佳村はるか)
Her song is "TOKIMEKI Escalate" (TOKIMEKIエスカレート)

Uzuki Shimamura is voiced by Ayaka Ohashi (大橋彩香)
Her song is "S(mile)ING!"

Kirari's voice in her song was very different from what I expected. Much more cutesy and high pitched. Also, it wasn't as high energy as I expected either. At first I liked Ranko's the best with her gothic style. Then, after repeated listening, I started to like Miku's and Uzuki's quite a bit. Miku because of the trumpets and style, Uzuki because of the relaxing feeling it had. I'm kind of undecided on Mika's song, but it seems nice enough.

Now to wait for the full versions! Scheduled to be released on August the 8th!

Ara ara~ Birthday: Tonari ni

This is a great video to celebrate Azusa's birthday! "Tonari ni" is a song that made me realize Azusa's great voice, and this Jazz mix really spices it up. The video itself is very nicely edited and all the scenes are in-game!

Noto Mamiko's Arcana Family

A.k.a Arcana Famiglia.

I just finished the 1st episode, and I was surprised to see/hear Noto Mamiko as the lead girl, Felicita. Her outfit and style is just great, but of course her voice takes the cake. It's been a while since I've heard her voice a main character.

Also, the guys seem to be alright. The general theme being based on Arcana is keeping me interested. And of course Felicita.

Squirrels Joining the Fray + Choir Badminton Club

Watched some more Dog Days and Tari Tari. Episodes 2 and 3 respectively.

Dog Days is fun as always. The transformation sequence of Becky was really interesting, as they combined some very different visuals into one. It's almost like some techno-magical girl transformation.

Tari Tari was great as well. I just can't stop loving the girls' voices, both talking and singing. The guys haven't really had much solo exposure though. Also the "cheating" being done during the badminton was fun, and Wien being a strange foreigner is something to scratch your head about. The big Spanish (?) guy chasing Wakana probably knows a relative, most likely her mom. Also that engrish. Absolutely wonderful.

Deco*27 Feat. Shoko Nakagawa

"DECO*27 - TAKING SWEET SHELTER feat. Shoko Nakagawa / 甘宿り feat. 中川翔子" from Deco*27's 3rd major album "LOVE CALENDAR".

It's really nice that Deco*27 actually gets to go do a song with Shoko Nakagawa. I don't really know much of Shoko's songs other than the Gurren Lagann opening, but I know her singing is very solid. I have high hopes for this album, and hopefully the mixing won't drown out the vocals like it did for the last album. I want to hear marina's strong vocals!

Dearly Stars + Idolm@ster SP + Little Busters. Although the editing isn't the best, I thought it was quite nice.

Namassuka SPECIAL 01 Cover Song Changes

Well there's only two changes, but they happen to be quite big.

See the previous list here.

Miki's "Sakuranbo" cover is replaced by "Ne~e?" (ね~え?) by Aya Matsuura (松浦亜弥).

Takane's "Connect" cover is replaced by "Tamashii no Refrain" (魂のルフラン) by Yoko Takahashi (高橋洋子).

The rest is the same, although the date of release has been pushed to August 15. This has also caused delays for the other Namassuka Special albums.

Also, planned to do a small summary of the next 5 Cinderella Master CD voice actors, but I think I'll wait a bit for the song titles.

Half-Price Bento and Light Music

Finally got around to watching the first few episodes of "Ben-tou" after three seasons past. Pretty darn entertaining characters plus ridiculous premise plus great music make me want to watch more.

And I got to watch more K-on!! with my bro. Hopefully I'll finish it by the time the movie blu-rays are out.

Wednesday 11 July 2012

Connections of the Heart; More Chorus Club

Well I got around to watching the first episode of Kokoro Connect, and it was certainly very good. Expecting some more body swapping antics and great dialog.

And also got around to watching episode 2 of Tari Tari. That beautiful singing beat my expectations even when I knew that the voice actors were very good to begin with.

In a Virtual World of Swords

Sword Art Online Episode 1.

It kind of reminds me of .hack in the whole virtual reality kind of way. Except this seems to have bigger ramifications. The whole system and the lack of magic is also kind of surprising.

The first episode was not what I expected. The lack of characters introduced was kind of surprising. You mostly get Kirito and Klein, and a tiny glimpse of the others before the episode ends. Oh and of course you get introduced to the crazy but calm GM of the whole thing.

Here's hoping it ends up living up to the hype from the novels.

IM@S UNION

A interesting little video that uses sounds from... somewhere. I really like the images they used to go with the sounds. Some especially good stuff are the ones that have the Jupiter boys, and Makoto's "HAAAAN~" moment.

Dearly Stars (Fan-made) Anime OP

It's a Dearly Stars anime!

Just kidding. It's just a fanmade Fake OP using traces. It still looks pretty darn good though. Makes me wonder if they'll ever revisit these three in the future with a special episode or OVA.

Nanoha and Fate: The Movie The 1st

Well I just watched the great remake/rebuild/alternate-take of the 1st season of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. Officially called "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie The 1st", it's pretty much about Nanoha and Fate and them becoming the best of friends.

After this great movie that blew away my expectations, I'm eagerly waiting for the A's remake movie to come out.

And here's a PV of the 2nd movie from youtube, taken from the www.nanoha.com website.

Hurray Hurray Ritsuko-san!

Actual video name is "危険なダブルフェロモン" (Kiken na Double Pheromone).

This is a cute little video with Azusa and Takane cheering on Ritsuko... san!
